A sailing boat on the River Thames looks tiny next to the back drop of the massive Canary Wharf shopping and business development in London, which is home to the three tallest buildings in the UK.
Canary Wharf is located upon, which was originally the West India Dock, in its hey day it was once one of the busiest ports in the world. But due to a rapid decline which started in the 1950’s the port was shut down in 1980.
West India Port may have went out of Business but Canary Wharf is most certainly thriving as a business area and is offering a direct challenge to the supremacy of the City of London as the UK’s main centre for the finance industry. As well as becoming a shopping destination with its large Jubilee Place shopping mall.
